Anyone out there have anything to say about the Chevy Ecotec midget engines? Considering a change for next season...need some feedback that isn't biased and some that comes from expeirience with the package.

We chased the SET Racing EcoTecs all season in the Illini Racing Series. They have a nice web site and will sell whatever part of the package you want or need. It isn't as sophisticated as the Revolution deal but being able to start with a $400/$700 junkyard motor is helpful.

We plan to race a "junkyard" Honda next year but seriously considered the EcoTec.

PS: I have a nice Buzzard-Focus for sale that might be good for Montpelier use.

Been racing against some Hondas for two seasons now in our series...if they could get their cars to handle....they would win every race. Honda is a good choice!

EFI gives such an advantage on starts and restarts!

The SET guys have got the sportsman thing figured out and I would also recommend them for that type of package. If you want or need more than that - give us a call. We'll sell just parts or build the whole thing. Or maybe try and talk the SET guys into it....

With the SET engine we were up to fifth from tenth at Montepelier before the battery went away on us. Oh by the way the engine has been in the car for 3 seasons without a fault.

I should also add a word about the incredible durability of the 2.4 ECOtec. We've had several of our stage I engines in cars and running for several seasons now and they are mechanically BULLETPROOF. Last week we had a 101 lap USAC/BCRA dirt race and Rick Holbrook came from 17th to 7th, winning the hard charger award against a darn good field of USAC and BCRA cars. Thats a good run for an internally stock motor.
