Someone just showed me this and I thought some of you might like it. I saw smith19 car I think in this. Go to you tube search Morris Mott then go to the Ballad of Gaines and Dizz. It was pretty cool.

That was great, what memories it brought back. I wonder if there is anything out there on Calvin Gilstrap? Both drivers were my favorites back then.

At 1:40 you will see my Dad upside down at Haubstadt (looks like the track) driving for Karl Kinser in the yellow 22.

Now this is just about the coolest thing I have seen in a long time.
It would sure be good if some of today's young guns could have raced against Dick, Don Nordhorn, Larry Miller, Butch wilkerson, and that gang in Diz's cars. It would be a humbling and learning experience.
What was neat about Diz was when something broke or got crashed the UPS Truck didn't deleiver new parts, Diz either fixed it or built a new one.

ACEACE,
Didn't your dad drive the "Gold Deuce" for Karl? I was young but remember Larry Miller being hard to beat at Haubstadt for a while.

Actually the gold deuce was owned by some guys from Metropolis,IL. Thats the car he started driving after he and Karl got into it.

At the 1:40 mark I think that #22 is Dick Gaines because Dick started driving for Karl after my Dad and drove the #22 for 1 season then Karl switched to the #11. If memory serves me correctly.
