After receiving so many messages of support from people here, I just wanted to post an update on Cameron following his accident. As most of you know, he was in an automobile accident Thursday morning and sustained head trauma and internal injuries that required him to be life flighted to Indianapolis. More information, news articles, and my latest updates are posted by his dedicated webmaster. Thank you all for the support - TRULY!

On this Sunday, we are fortunate to be able to report more good news about Cameron’s condition. The intracranial pressure has continued to decrease and that is a great step in showing the swelling and pressure of his brain is subsiding. This morning, the doctors were so confident in this step that they were able to remove that monitor. This will allow them to continue to proceed with other treatments. They are also adjusting medication and treatments to slowly allow his body to start controlling some of its own regulating and functions. Additionally, the preliminary stages to hopefully start the gradual process of regaining consciousness has started. Early measurements will be used just to try and monitor when he is awake or asleep; so while it may seem that this process is moving slowly, he is doing well considering the condition he was admitted in.

By no means is his status upgraded yet but we are all thankful for these small notches towards our goal of having Cameron healthy and back to his vibrant self. Deep thanks go out to the staff at Methodist Hospital, the greater Greenfield and Indianapolis communities, and all of his friends, sponsors, fans, and fellow competitors who are sending encouraging messages of support. In the coming days, those positive words will continue to be very important so please keep them coming as we approach Thanksgiving.

No need for thanks - I am fortunate to have a job I enjoy and where I get to work with amazing kids like Cameron. Thank you all for emails and cards for Cameron. If you only could see the stacks that are filtering in daily, you would understand why we are all so humbled and appreciative. All that Cameron's family keeps asking is to share how much they appreciate that support, tell everyone thank you, and keep praying.

With that said, here is a small update. Again, no news is good news for right now!

Have a good Thanksgiving. We will continue to keep Cameron's website updated even if it is a holiday weekend for most. http://www.camerondodson.com

Good afternoon everyone! We do not have any drastic news to report but I know how many of you continue to send messages of support and keep referring back to his website for updates so this is just a small note for you. Cameron is still making progress in his recovery. For that, we can be thankful! The exponentially-growing stack of encouraging words and inspirational stories have touched us all so we wanted to let everyone know how much comfort there is in those numbers and words.

Doctors continue to reduce monitors, supportive devices, and medications as tests to see how Cameron responds. Their reports are that he is doing remarkably well with each of those tests. They are seeing increasing responses as medication dosages are lowered. He does have a slight increase in body temperature but nothing they are alarmed by since test results are favorable and it may just be that his body is working hard to heal. He definitely has a long road of him but none of us can predict what the future holds. We can only ask everyone to remain positive and focused on the amazing gift and opportunity he has already received. We look forward to the day when he can share that gift with others. Please continue to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers as we celebrate Thanksgiving and keep those cards and e-mails coming!
