scariest ride ever

I have no history of car racing but I've been racing motorcycles for over 45 years, and have had my share of broken bones and such, and a championship or two. Bout the only time I've ever been skeert has been maybe a couple times racing mx, the triples are pretty scary at times. You cant just go a little faster every lap till you get up to speed, you gotta just pin it and pray cause theres a big speed difference between rolling jumps and then getting the nerve to tap it out and do the jump. Speedway, I cant say I've ever been afraid, too busy to be plus I'll ride it out to the bitter end. Till I'm on the ground I wont ever not try to ride it out.
Well saturday was the first time I have ever been really terrified while riding. I took my 11 year old daughter out for a streetbike ride, and realized I had no idea where I was or how to even begin to find my way back. All this was happening on roads I know like the back of my hand. I've been kinda of trying to deny it to myself, but I guess due to my head injury I have the early onset of altzimers, or something along those lines. Anyhow somehow call it fate or gods hand but I happened to pick the right direction and we found our way back. I laughed it off for my daughter, but man it has shook me to the core, and I'm shaking still now as I type this a week later. Thats my biggest fear, what happens if I cant remember my kids or my experiences with them. I'm scared to death that it's going to keep getting worse. Anyhow, it's not really race related and thanks for bearing with me cause it's easier to share this info with a bunch of friends I've never met then with anyone much else. ![]() ![]() Bob |

Get to your Dr. as quickly as you can!! If caught early, early onset Alzheimer's can be treated and to a great degree controlled and its advancement slowed. Talk to your Dr., be honest with him/her and take someone you trust with you to hear the diagnosis and treatment options, so they can help you with the decision(s). Don't delay...time lost is function lost.

Don't get your self all scared yet. Sometimes with a head injury, the effects take different forms. You may have a type of memory loss that isn't alzheimers, just an after effect of the injury. Keep your chin up!

BACKITIN, please check your private messages....
I wrote a huge reply to your post but I realized that I shouldn't post so many details about my families experience with what you are dealing with. Somebody out there with some computer skills and a ******** mind could easily take advantage of my family member with the info I wanted to give you so I sent it as a private message. I would like to publicly encourage anybody who may be noticing problems with memory to please talk to your doctor. Denial is the devil regarding Alzheimers, Dementia or any other mind deteriorating problems. Just like cancer, early detection and treatment can do wonders for minimizing or eliminating the issue. And I can tell you first hand that if allowed to run amuck these illnesses can and will destroy your life, your families lives or can end up causing serious injury to you or innocent people. I respect you more than I can express for posting what you did and admitting there may be a problem. Please continue down that path and I'm sure you and your loved ones will be much better off thanks to your actions. THANK YOU |
