When Bill Marvel was head of marketing at USAC there was always a point fund, but now USAC is run by a president that is a marketing guy and there is no point fund for sprint week.

Knew there would be something they wouldnt do it for free
Except sprint week used to pay the top 10. It would be nice to see the tracks kick in some money towards the sprint week title. With no sponsor, USAC is covering the point fund.
Jerry I think USAC would have a tracks portion of any point fund built into the sanctioning fee. Tracks do well on Sprintweek and it helps them to offset some of the losses through the rest of the season. I don't think that if USAC added a little more to the sanction fee to pay the top 10, a track would drop their Sprintweek show. Just my opinion.
Each track in Sprint Week pays $1000 toward the point fund. With 7 tracks that would make up 7000 of the 10,000 paid out by USAC. That is in addition to the sanction fee, official fees, and the participant accident insurance they have to buy through USAC.
