Its time for us to put a stop to the entry fees and no payout if you do not make the heats. I for one have vowed not to participate in any USAC event until it is changed. All who are with me on this voice your opinion and let people know. The more that do maybe they will wake up and change it. It is not our responsibility to pay their overhead. It is their reponisibility to raise those funds in other ways not through the people putting on the show. Here are my and Craig Doris post from another subject.

I totally agree with Kevin and Craig. This is the reason I started MSCS in the beginning. At that time I owned a Sprinter, but could not see running and supporting USAC shows with no return available. I know as a fact a number of racers that will not support USAC just because of the unbalance of cost and possible return. Thank God we have options in Indiana and can find places to race that show more courtesy to the racers. This is my opinion. Sam Stockon Sr.

That is why we race mscs and not usac its a joke, your paying for fifty people with usac shirts at the track ! mscs pays tow money and that helps a lot , small teams like us don't have a chance and then to pay $200.00 for a car and one person is not right and get nothing , I'll stick with mscs and every one else should . They pay good and they are for the racer and fans !!! Not just to get the money .

Kevin good to see you post, your right on the money as usual. If enough of you refuse to pay to play then the fans will stop going and usac will be forced to rethink entry fee's .* Personaly I thought 35$ was crazy to get in at Brownstown, yes I paid the money for the pit pass becouse I wanted to see some friends and buy some T-shirts. (you can never catch the teams after the races becouse most of them are gone by the time the support classes are done) No I wont pay it again. Do you think Payton Manning Pays the colts or the NFL for the right to play football!!!! You Drivers Owners need to get together on this, we dont need a cart/irl split but there has to be a middle ground.

Kevin -
While I cannot disagree with your thoughts here, I don't know that your position will gain much support from other racers. I've been a long time crewman on winged cars, and my personal experience is that most car owners will race for a trophy. They'll run for limited purses, in lousy conditions, and be treated poorly in the process. Most track operators have forgotten how to PROMOTE - they find it easier to charge at the back gate rather than do a promoters job. And I know that the competition for our discretionary dollars is greater than ever - which to me, means that a promoter must work harder than ever - for both his fans, and his racers. My point is merely that racers will always show up, will almost always pay whatever fees promoters and sanctioning bodies charge, and then get the short end of the stick. I find it amazing that almost all of the racers will not stick together whenever someone suggests something like this. When I first attended a Silver Crown race as a crewman in the mid 90's, I was astonished by the number of USAC officials assigned to the pits - it seemed like there was an official at every car! I questioned whether they were necessary then, and I question their need today.... So like I said, your ideas are solid, but stand very little chance, IMO. of changing anything, anywhere.... which is sad, ain't it..... |
