While digging thru some old racing stuff I have accumulated over the years I came across an old photo I took a few years ago.
Not a good quality photo I admit.
But anyway, this is the #1 WYNN's SPRINTER driven by Mario Andretti at Oswego Speedway, New York on 28 August 1966. Mario won the 100 lapper this day.
The sprinter next to Mario I am not really sure. Could be the #3 K.E.Y. Special driven by Bobby Unser this day.
Yes, they did...the 65 USAC Sprint Car Champion was Johnny Rutherford but he took one out of the park in the Spring race at Eldora and ended up with two badly broken arms. If my memory serves me correctly Mario had run some races as a teammate to Johnny.
On another board H.A.M.B. they were showing pictures of the car as it was just restored and been at a couple vintage dates. If you go to the sight put in pre-69 sprintcars there is a thread that is 770 pages long with pictures and articles on mostly non wing and usac cars from that era. Warning it will take days to go through it.
