Why does this make it a joke? Because he has a funny name? Hate to say it folks but Indy has never been "dominated" by American drivers, maybe the US had the majority, but never been dominated.
The thing that really gets to me, is if these drivers weren't coming to Indy (like MANY did, and have throughout history), then it wouldn't be so special. And if these drivers weren't coming to Indy this year, would we have 33 cars? Maybe, maybe not.
I'm all for more cars, and better competition at the Speedway. I have no clue in the world how anybody thinks this is a bad thing. It's not like IndyCars are the only ones doing rent a ride deals. It's public knowledge of the money getting thrown around everywhere else, so it's not anything new.
The other night, Donald Davidson referred to Ho-Pin Tung as Ho Chi Minh (the late Viet Nam revolutionary leader). Later in the show he seemed to regret saying that.
It's a money game. We all know that. Funny part is most of the drivers that bring money to a deal will very seldom win a race.
For you oldtimers out there, I bet Harlan Fengler is spinning in his grave over this one.
