GOODGUYS SPEEDWAY NATIONALS EVENT COMING TO IMS IN 2011

INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010 �" More than 3,000 hot rods and classic, custom and muscle cars will be on display when the popular Goodguys Rod and Custom Association car show stops at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the inaugural Wix Filters Speedway Nationals, Sept. 16-18, 2011. The three-day event will fill various areas of the IMS infield including the Gasoline Alley garage area and the Pagoda Plaza with vendor exhibits and cars from 1972 and earlier. Other scheduled activities and events include an autocross performance course, swap meet and track lap.

"We consider it an honor to hold an event at IMS," said Harry Daviess, Goodguys vice president of Event Operations. "The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a shrine, the most hallowed ground in American motorsports. To be able to bring a Goodguys event here means so much to Goodguys, our event participants, our sponsors and our fans. It has already created an unprecedented buzz in our industry."

According to Daviess, Goodguys officials predict more than 3,000 participants at the Wix Filters Speedway Nationals �" but that number may prove to be conservative.

"We could see as many as 5,000 for the inaugural event," he said. "The resulting attendance and excitement surround the new event bodes well for the city of Indianapolis, Speedway and surrounding communities. Our participants will fill a lot of motel rooms. Restaurants will be busy."

The Pleasanton, Calif.,-based Goodguys Rod and Custom Association, which has more than 70,000 members worldwide, previously conducted an annual event at nearby O'Reilly Raceway Park in Clermont, Ind., for two decades.

The Wix Filters Speedway Nationals will be open to the general public to participate and attend.
