R.J. Johnson Takes ASCS Canyon Honors at CSP

Lonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (October 9, 2010) – R.J. Johnson snared his fourth American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region win of the year by reaching victory lane in Saturday night’s 30-lap main event at Canyon Speedway Park.

The Phoenix, AZ, racer climbed from the sixth starting position to take his second CSP series win of the year aboard the Mountain Valley Performance Ford-powered Michael Brothers No. 77m Sherman chassis.

Johnson took the checkered flag ahead of current series points leader Charles Davis, Jr., with Bob Ream, Jr., Chris Bonneu and Stevie Sussex rounding out the top five. Mike Martin was sixth, with Dalten Gabbard, Andrew Reinbold, Justin Quinn and Shon Deskins completing the top ten.

Gabbard, Bonneau and Ream topped Saturday night’s heat race action, with Bryan Swinehart winning the “B” Main.

Sure was a good race and so close that everyone sitting around me thought Charles had won.

Had to listen to the webcast but it sure sounded like the boys had they're elbows up in the main. Sounded like a heck of a race.

That show was EXACTLY the reason why I go to the sprint car races!! And,like Patti has said,I thought it was Charles by a bumper. Hope Bruce St.James is feeling better,he took a nasty tumble in the B.

Patti...Thats what I had thot also from Pitside !!........Did you stay after for the 'FireWorks" display from between #16 & 19 pit??...went on till 1:45!!.......
