I am writing this as I teach school here in Temperance, MI and can see a photo hanging above my office from the 1995 Festival of Speed at ORP (then IRP) The picture is of Eric Gordon in the #10 Gary Hill Racing Silver Crown Car, and it was our only win in the history of that team (a qualifying race win that I believe was broadcast on ESPN).
The connection to Honest-Sam? He and I were teammates traveling the entire Silver Crown Circuit back then (and it was a cool schedule from Milwaukee to Indy to Sacramento after opening at the Copper World) Sam was a great guy to hang out and learn about racing way back then. He was always someone that was "all in" when it came to racing. He is as passionate now about racing as he was 15 years ago!It is pretty cool to think that after all these years Eric and Sam still kick around when he races.
Didn't get to see you at the races this year Sam - and my guess is that you'll probably be at Toledo for the S.C. race in two weeks when I am up fishing, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY man!

Happy Birthday Sam!!!! Hope my friend has a great day however you spend it!
Marv, I agree with your comments, Sam is one of the people from the IOW board I have had the pleasure of meeting and consider a friend ever since that first meeting.
Sorry our paths didn't cross this summer Sam, you were right about the Oswego race.

Happy Birthday Sam. Hope you have a great day.

You are one of a number of folks I still need to meet from the IOW board.

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
