Congrats to Eric Fenton from theTulsa area - Eric took his ASCS RRE ECOtec up to the OMMS event this past weekend and won his heat. He then worked his way through the pack to challenge for the lead in the closing laps, finally finishing second. This is the same team and car that won the ASCS Midget event at the Shootout last year with Kevin Bayer at the wheel. Cody Ledger also entered his ECOtec at the OMMS race and brought it home 8th. Richard Kriesel of Warsaw, MO., has also finished as high as 2nd with his RRE ECOtec in OMMS competition.
Out West, Dillon Silverman, driving for Rick Young's RAM Racing, has moved into second place in overall BCRA Championship points with his RRE ASCS-legal ECOtec. At last report Dillon was also holding down fifth overall in the National Midget Driver of The Year rookie points. The RRE ECOtec is based on the current production, GM 2.4L ECOtec engine. It is a twin cam, four valve, all aluminum engine and the RRE version features full electronic engine management including sequential port fuel injection and variable valve timing. In addition to the new ASCS Midget division, the RRE ECOtec has proven competitive with several "traditional" Midget clubs across the country including BCRA, SMRS and OMMS. The complete engine sells for less than $11K, and it is designed to go 100+ races before rebuilding. Owing to the electronic engine management system, the RRE ECOtec is also the most fuel efficient Midget engine on the market, typically consuming only about 3-4 gallons of methanol during a feature event.
