What a great run for RRE ECOtec driver Dillon Silverman of Chico, CA! Driving for Rick Young's RAM Racing team, Dillon drove his ASCS Chevrolet ECOtec to to a win in his heat race at the BCRA Midget event in Chowchilla, CA. He then drew a FOURTEENTH starting spot for the feature, but undaunted, the team got to work on getting the car ready for a difficult task on the dry slick Chowchilla track.

At the green, Silverman pulled several cars thru turns one and two and was up to sixth going down the backstretch on lap one. Unfortunately, the yellow came out for a spin and a complete restart was ordered. The second start was almost as good, with Dillon sitting 8th going into turn 3 on lap 1. From there, it was a steady climb up through the pack with some excellent side by side racing with David Prickett among others. At one point Dillon was forced to fight off several dramatic slide jobs from the #1 car of Nick Foster but in the closing laps, Silverman edged ahead of all challengers and finished the race with just a small amount of breathing room over third place. Meanwhile, Mr. Sills was on cruise control out front.

This event was particularly rewarding for me, as it was the proving ground for two days of dyno work we had just completed on the RRE Chevrolet ECOtec Midget engine. As a result of this testing and the results we achieved, we are releasing our first revision of the ECOtec engine calibration to all ECOtec competitors. Look for more results like this one from ECOtec competitors in the coming weeks.

One more interesting bit of info... The electronically fuel injected 2.4 liter RRE ECOtec burned just 3 gallons of methanol during it's 30 lap, 14th to 2nd run. And this one had LOTS of yellow flag laps thrown in.... What Dillon saved in fuel cost over the course of the night would darn near buy him a replacement for that used up right rear tire!
