UMRA Races Into Rushville Saturday Night
By Alex Wollf

The 50th anniversary season of the Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midgets continues on Saturday night with the first visit to the famed Rush County Fairgrounds in Rushville on Saturday night. Saturday night’s race at Rushville will be sponsored by Hubler Chevrolet of Rushville. Hubler Chevrolet will be providing the pace truck for the races along with trucks that will carry the drivers who will contest the feature on Saturday night. Fans will want to be sure to come out as Hubler Chevrolet will have plenty of fan giveaways and will be providing extra money to the purse that the drivers will be gunning for. There will also be an opportunity for fans to win tickets to the race this Saturday so you’ll want to be sure to listen to WIFE 94.3 FM in Rushville throughout the week to have a chance to win.
Saturday night will be a night to have fun and watch some of the best in the business battle for victory but it will also be a night to help a very worthy cause. The UMRA has set a $500 bounty on each of the three Rushville races in 2010 to raise that amount for Riley Children’s Hospital. One way that fans will be invited to help achieve that goal will be by pledging a penny for each lap that is turned by the Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midgets and the 600cc micros that will also be on the card. This Saturday night will also see the return of the bike giveaways so kids will want to be sure and get their parents to bring them out to have a shot at taking home a new mode of transportation.
The last time that the Dutch Mill Buffet UMRA TQ Midgets were on track at the Kokomo Speedway on May 23rd it was Scott Petry going to victory lane in a thriller over teammate Terry Goff. Last season in the first Rushville race, Petry looked like a sure winner when a crash knocked him out of the race seven laps from the finish and handed the win to 1993 UMRA Champion Travis Welpott. This Saturday Petry looks for revenge along with the third straight win for the Terry Goff owned #2 to go with his Kokomo triumph and Oogie Goff’s at Brownstown on May 15th. 600cc micros will share the racing card on Saturday at Rushville with their always exciting brand of competition.
Gates open at 3 PM, practice is set for 5:30 with qualifying at 6, and racing scheduled to begin at 7!

50th year of great UMRA action at the track which best defines the UMRA and it's history. Sadly due to a bunch of graduation deals this weekend I'm going raceless but I will be there for at least one night of the UMRA fair races at Rushville, I can almost smell the grilled pork chp sanwhiches and the funnel cakes now...oh yeah, some pretty good racing also! LOL
