I recently saw this great film footage somewhere else, don't remember where exactly, but combined with the brave men of the time - the music is awesome. Anyone know the singer/group or the name of the song? Thank you for sharing!

It's Moby and the song is called "Why does my heart feel so bad?"

Way too many great drivers lost in that time.

I did not see one teenage boy or girl driving any of those cars!

Thanks for sharing this great coverage from the '50's & '60's. Racing in that era is what hooked most of us on the sport we love so much.

Be sure and thank Dick Wallen, most of that footage was 'borrowed' from him...

Terrific video. Wish there was some narrative to recognize the drivers. To a later generation those names will be lost. The Sweikert crash was Salem, not Winchester.

Cool footage

My dad has hours and hours of black and white footage, he shot at the Indy mile, etc. The guys were wearing white T-shirts, and broadsliding those super sharp champ cars.

His color footage of the short tracks: Limaland, New Bremen, Eldora, Dayton, Winchester, Tri-County, and a little of Salem, plus Indy practice and some TT, in the very late 50's, through the early-mid 80's is awesome too.

He has Allen Crowe's fatal crash at Bremen, along with Chuck Hulse's wicked end over end crash (also at Bremen) starting with Mario running into Bob Wente. Herk going over the wall at Dayton. Ziggy going over at Winchester. It just goes on and on...truely a 'step back in time'
