For the browbeating he is taking for the DTWC. He puts his ass on the line and pays $50,000 to win, $5,000 to win, and $3,000 and the cars don't support him, the fans were there but for some reason the cars were not there. 71 LM is very disappointing but that has to be attributed to the UMP tire rule. Looking at who was there, the tire rule could have been left open and nothing would have been hurt. The Sprint count for 5K to win is the most baffling of all. After implementing the DT3 tire rule, to help out the racers that already have those in stock and only 19?? 57 modifieds in the middle of UMP/AMRA country? I can't begin to wonder where they were. And to top it off, the armchair track preppers on brand X board just raking him over the coals. From my standpoint, the feature was a damn good one, and the sprint feature finish was very exciting with Ballou and Short inches from each other at the line. Dave I feel like I owe you $50 in return for all the unneccessary beatings you're taking.

I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would want to be a promoter. But i'm sure glad some do any way! Thanks Dave, Jiggs, Mike, Tom, Keith, Joe, Tim, the O'Conners and others.

My thoughts on the sprint car count is as follows -

1) Cold crappy weather with not the best forcast. Can't say anyone has fun spending two days sitting in that weather.
2) Face it, many guys are done racing. They have spent their wad for the season and already got the cars apart getting ready for swap meets.
3) Top teams, getting ready to head out west for two weeks of racing.
4) Two days of pit pass (dollar wise) for one pay out. Plus have to buy a hotel room, food, etc on top of that. Yes, paid 5k to win but only one driver walks out with that. $300 to start is nice but after the costs listed that $300 does not go far.
5) The weather forced teams to either sit two days at L-burg or one day at Kokomo. Seems to me most picked Kokomo.

I guess my question is, I thought the DTWC was promoted by another guy and not Dave. Why is Dave taking the beating? I guess like everything, live and learn. If the sprint cars are not on the DTWC weekend next year I guess we will know why and there shouldn't be any complaining from the teams that did not support it this year.

I made my first visit to the new L-burg this year and plan to be back next year. Dave - How about calling ASCS and booking an ASCS National Tour race in 2010. That would rock!

In my opinion the internet, although occasionally a positive, is ruining the sport.

2 weeks of rain on and off, with vertually no sun shine and cold temps. The burg did not miss a race weekend. They busted but and got fun fest in. They worked hard all this week and got the DTWC in. Thats pretty impressive. Most places would have said the heck with it and canceled. I also know people are complaining about how they spent good money to go to that show. Guess what weather they spent $1 or $100 they are still going to complain. Keep working hard. Don't forget, happy people normally don't commient.

I agree, i think it's just a big weather issue...

It was horrible all week within about 300 mile radius

I am pretty sure that Lawrenceburg rented the track to another promoter. That promoter has had it at KC Raceway.

I was there in 2006, and the weather was cold...the parking lots were a swamp...many, many stuck vehicles...
I could not believe how many campers, fans, and cars were there in those conditions.

Here is the website of the promoter of the DTWC.

I don't feel sorry for him, nothing was wrong. I feel sorry for the naysayers, nothing could please them.
There were plenty of cars. Only 26 made the LM feature.
I got my moneys' worth, the late model show was great in IMO with at least 3 guys challeging Mars for the win and he beat them back each time (several times). One of the best 100 lappers I have ever seen during a day show or nite. I'm always up for the sprints and with that many mods it was fun.
Besides, it will be 6 months before alot of us will see another dirt race. Good Job Carl promoting and good job to Dave and crew. The track was great on Sunday.
