what year did they start running wings? I was there as a kid and I think they were non-winged.

Nationals' first year for wings was '82. Gary Scott crash helped usher it in.

Great Pic's: I went to Knoxville in the mid 70's ( Opp and Gaines) and saw some great shows, never attended any wang shows. Again thanks for the pic's.

Hey Jason, how's it going down there in stockcar country? Sorry we didn't get to see you at any of the USAC shows this summer. Ask your Dad about both midget week & sprint week at Kokomo. Really, really good stuff!

Take Care,

Jeff

Enjoy.
In the first photo (Stan Fox standing beside a midget), the car owner is on the left in that photo: Rollie Helmling!

Hey Russ, are those the famous State Bail Bonding Boys? (LOL) Those shows ROCKED! Funny as hell, with great racing highlites too. All the drivers coming on & doing goofy things. It's what helped cement my passion for the Indiana Sprintcar scene. Between the DO & The King shows & Thursday Thunder, they really were the glory days of racing on TV. Hard to believe they have $hit like PINKS & Monster Trucks on all the time now but no Thunder. Were's the justice?
