NEW PROMOTER TO TAKE THE REIGNS AT KCS

Chicago Area Businessman and Plymouth Speedway (IN) owner Tom Smith to take over as promoter of Kankakee County Speedway. Smith of Tinley Park, IL, has been a well recognized businessman for 22 years.

"Smitty" as he's known, has never raced on dirt, but has visited several dirt tracks before and is excited about the future of KCS. "Having been there before, I know the track has a lot of potential and a tremendous history," said the part time CRA Super Series competitor. "When I heard about the opportunity to promote Kankakee County Speedway, it was something I couldn't pass up. I look forward to the challenge of bringing family-oriented short track dirt racing back to the great fans of Kankakee. This is an exciting time for all of us. Drivers, crews, fans, etc. If we all come together we can all make this thing work and prosper".

As mentioned, Smith is also a top flite asphalt late model racer and is a former track champ at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL. Smith is also the current points leader in the Superpro Series, having already earned three feature wins in five starts. Most recently, Smith claimed runner-up honors at Spartan Speedway (MI) this past Friday night.

An informational meet & greet is being set up at the Kankakee County Speedway for next Wednesday, July 15th, at 5PM for all employees, volunteers, etc.

There will also be a meeting at 6:30PM for any and all drivers, crew members, and car owners ONLY, to discuss the future of the speedway and the promoter's vision for it's survival.

The new promoter and Kankakee County Fair Board are both very excited about these recent developments and urge everyone one of you, be it drivers, fans, whoever, to start spreading the positive word about KCS, and all other race tracks that are hurting with this economy as well. Everyone needs to support this sport before it's too late and it's gone.

Those of you that know auto racing in this area will no doubt have heard of this new promoter, and with his reputation and a lot of committment from people helping each other out, this track will no doubt return to one of the finest in all the Midwest.
