I'm from Muncie and have always heard there was an old boardtrack..i think called the Veladrome...any of you racing/history buffs no the location or where it's at, or if it really existed???

not to be confused with Muncie speedway that is by the drag strip that closed because of contamination. :-( my dad had the track record for a while there...

Thanks my brother and I have been trying to find it for a long time.

According to Allan Brown's book "The History of America's Speedways Past and Present" the Muncie Velodrome was a 1/5 mile paved oval that operated from 6/14/1940 to 6/26/1942 and 4/19/1946 to 1946. There is no mention of a board track in Muncie.

The Muncie Motor Speedway was a 1/4 mile paved oval which operated from 1964 to 1990 when it was closed by the EPA because it was a toxic dump site per the same book.

It was on burlington ave. I due believe. Atleast thats what my grandpa always said. If you know burlington well, the location of the track is now the burlington trailer park.

Just talked to my grandpa, said that the race track was where the trailer park is now. Turn off of burlington on the luick ave. and the track was on back up luick ave. He says there isnt anything left of it and google earth confirms that. Said he watched his first midget race there one night after he snuck out of his bedroom window to find out what all the noise was.

Duke, Do you know anything about a race track near McCordsville, IN on Pendelton pike? Got a lane leading back up to the track. Its kind of back in the woods? My dad and his brother always went back there when they were kids and they didn't know the name of it then and I haven't been able to find any information on it. I found it on google earth. Its just south east of McCordsville on Pendlenton Pike/IN67

Duke the sportswriters in Muncie are all young and pretty lame, they are barely able to cover high school basketball which is king in Muncie. I grew up on the south side of muncie and that area off of Burlington has been a trailer park since the early '60's could have been a racetrack before that but it would have been before my time. BTW my uncle built and ran the dragstrip next to the defunct Muncie Speedway off 67 between Muncie and Albany.
