Might be a dumb question for all you guys out there in Indy. But im looking to put a wingless car together. If I start with an 86/40 4 bar car can I make it work? What is different on a wingless car? This is what I understand so far. A 53" front axle? what other changes? and could I do without a sway bar? Thanks for any information

Longer front axle

You'll run a 3" offset RR wheel in most cases, since you'll want to loosen the car up....

Play with bars, most likely you'll soften up the car a bit; I'd suggest dropping .025 per bar location as a start.

Everything that you learned about a wing car....try to go the other way. A wing car likes/tends to be tight....non wing tends to be a bit loose....

Ask your local favorite for advice - most guys are glad to help, to at least get you close....

you can do pretty much all the same things with weight adjustments,

your rear ride heights are gonna need to be a bit lower w/o the wing, like from a 4in block to 4 1/2in

Shock package is gonna be a bit different

wider front axle,

Bars should be really close actually, you just cant go quite as soft on the rf w/o as you can with the wing

Thanks for all the advice so far guys.. was wondering without using the anti roll bar if I would have to stiffen the rf bars up quite a bit?

i would say a 1050 or 1025 would be a good place to start

Okay thank you very much. I had heard something was different with the birdcages.. any truth to that?

With a standard wing birdcage you run the arm hook up really close to the axle, a non wing cage has a hookup 1in lower than a standard to maintain arm angle when you lower the back of the car... really with the tight lash birdcages and the right rear bar combo you dont need to change it
