When you have finished reading/responding to all of the recent threads here on IOW, I suggest that you venture over to OpenWheelRacers.com (http://www.openwheelracers.com/) to read the latest very good article by IOW's Danny Burton.

BTW, I heard from several of Danny's fellow Postal employees that he is already retired; it is known as "retired on active duty" :stuck

UhOh! Now I'm in even bigger trouble next time I try to sit in Section A -- Marv and Danny will be blocking my efforts to see if Dave has yet found a suitable replacement for the 50/50 girl of a couple seasons ago.

The usual thought provoking, well written offering from our friend, Danny. :thumb

I have it on good authority that Danny, having seen the successful "fantasy camps" offered for baseball fans, tennis wannabes, etc., is planning to supplement his substantial writing income with a "mail carrier fantasy camp" . The plan is to offer any aspiring Cliff Clavens out there an opportunity to carry the mail with a real pro. For a yet to be determined stipend, Danny will lead campers all around the streets of Columbus, IN, going door to door, pepper spray in hand, thereby fulfilling the dreams of the happy campers. Just like real mail carriers, campers will have NSSN, Sprint Car & Midget, & Playboy magazines to read..........this option, for a slightly higher fee, of course.

I think it will be a rousing success. :checkered:

I'm sure locations of the Scheffels, Coers, Spindlers, Konke77 and the great Alan Barr will be provided for an added charge.

I don't live in Columbus anymore so I am safe!!! Although my current neighbor is a retired mail carrier also!

It's funny watching him and our current mail carrier play pranks on each other all the time.

Nothing like watching my neighbor go outside and seeing For Sale signs all over his car or in his front yard.

Sign me up. Just one question, is it "mail" or "male" carrier fantasy camp.

Boys, boys. The article was about racers' retiring. :thumb There is no right or wrong way to do it. KT's method worked out very well. And KB's way is fine too.

I do like the idea of the mail carrier's fantasy camp.

2 guys who I mentioned in the article retired and came back, with horrible results, Mark Donahue and Jimmy Bryan. Or Indy car drivers, maybe Sam Hanks did it best, retiring from Indycar racing in Victory Lane after winning the '57 Indy 500.

This is also discussed here:

Is Dave going to allow any 50/50 girl into Section A this year?

Actually, The plan is to give Chuck all the 50/50 money. If and only if the minnimum bid is recieved from Section A will one make a appearance. The Bids go in levels and if high enough we may even have the 2007 50/50 gal make a appearance.

Chuck, Practical Joker also. I bet that tape with the funny Fish saying is still on the pole below the Big A.
