$60K Valentine’s Event Kicks Off Diverse ’09 Cowtown Speedway Season

12/4/08, DarinShort.com. What’s sure to go down as sweetheart of a 2009 racing season, Cowtown Speedway’s first date with the dirt in ’09 is with a major racing event Valentine’s Day weekend.

The first annual ‘King of the Hills’ Midget Championship joins the traditional February Fast 50 line up on February 13-14, 2009. The event also marks the season point’s opener for the Southern Midget Racing Series. The full-blown midgets will compete for $1,000 to win on Friday and $3,000 to win on Saturday. Each of their feature events will start 24 cars.

And Cupid’s arrow doesn’t just land there on Valentine’s weekend at Cowtown. The first ever visit of the ASCS2 Series will be on hand with the Winged Outlaw ‘Multi’ and Non-Winged ‘A’ classes (of what Cowtown fans know as the Winged 600’s, just without wings). With $1500 earmarked to win for each ASCS2 division, there’s sure to be full fields of top quality cars from throughout the region.

The always exciting Cowtown Modifieds will race 50 laps for $2,000 to win and the Limited Modifieds will be vying for the $1,500 winner’s share. Both features will start 24 cars.

With a staggering $60,000 weekend purse posted, another huge field of 200+ cars are expected. Drivers are urged to pre-register for this event at the track website on or before 2/7/09 to receive pre-entry discounts.

Pre-entry also allows you to receive a reserved parking space for your hauler in the pits. And it allows the track to publicize drivers that will be attending.

Wrapping up the weekend racing card will be a special Young Guns Shootout on Saturday night. Visit www.YoungGunsShootout.com for all of the details.

Race fans, you can enjoy the entire weekend’s action by purchasing your 2-day tickets in advance at the track website by 2/11/09. 2-day adult grandstand passes are just $25, a savings of $5 off of race night pricing.

This also would make a perfect Valentine’s gift for that special person in your life.

Just click www.CowtownSpeedway.com for the event flyer, driver pre-entry, advance 2-day passes, track information and more.

The new ’09 season schedule can also be viewed at the track website. 30 additional race dates are set beginning with the March 14th opener featuring the first of two visits for the Sprint Series of Texas and the first of eight visits for the LSDCC.com Dwarf Cars.

A huge fireworks display will be a part of the racing action on July 4, with Cowtown’s annual 9/11 Memorial event on September 12.

Other highlights include the popular ASCS Sprint Cars on April 4, May 16, June 27, August 22 and September 5.

This all builds up to the 2nd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals October 9-10, which will be point’s races for the ASCS Sooner, Gulf South and Lone Star regions. Last year’s event had a whopping 49 sprint cars taking to the Cowtown high-banks. Further event details will be published when the racing season begins, but you can expect another huge purse and field of cars.

The ’09 season wraps up with the wildly successful and exciting 3rd annual November Sprint Shootout on November 13-14. Last year’s NSS saw 46 sprint teams from several sanctioning bodies and series invade Cowtown, and over 200 cars total competing throughout the weekend.

Make your first date in 2009 on Valentine’s weekend, and you’re sure to become a ‘steady’ with the Fastest Li’l Dirt Track in Texas, Cowtown Speedway!

2/2/09, DarinShort.com. This bulletin contains the latest in news for race teams and fans for the upcoming Cowtown Midget Championships, February Fast 50 & ASCS2 Championships on Feb. 13-14.

This update is provided to you so that your racing experience at Cowtown will be as smooth (and fun) as possible; especially with the large amount of racing teams coming to this event.

RACE TEAMS:

- General information for all race divisions. If your team is coming to Cowtown, you need to preregister at the track website by Saturday 2/7. Then you can send an email to CowtownSpeedway@yahoo.com to explain your pit parking request, which will help to get you situated the best as possible. We will be staking parking spaces once again.

-Pit parking requests will not be accepted by unregistered teams.

-Pre-registering will also allow the track announcers to prepare your profile, which the race fans will greatly appreciate.

-Over 30 midgets have already pre-registered for this event! The pre-entry list will be published soon.

-ASCS2, Modifieds & Limited Modifieds have a preregistration discount available of $25. This online promotion is only available at the track website through 2/7.

-Over 40 ASCS2 teams have already preregistered for this event!

-Based on early registration numbers, we anticipate a total car count in excess of 200; which could easily eclipse the track record of 209 at last year’s November Sprint Shootout.

-Pre-registering also provides the race track office your information to prepare your pay card in advance. This small step will save you large amounts of time waiting in the pit line on Friday night by not having to fill out forms when you get to the pit window. The more teams pre-enter, the faster the line will move; so we highly encourage you to pre-enter.

RACE FANS:

-Advance 2-day grandstand passes are currently available online for $25. This online promotion is available now through 2/11 at the track website (2 days before the event).

SPECIAL START TIMES:

-Thursday, 2/12; 5pm-9pm Practice Night. Plus, registration for drivers not pre-entered. Pre-registered drivers can pick up their pay cards so you will not have to wait in a second line at the pit window on Friday night. You must have a pay card to draw in all race divisions. Pit passes are $20 and the main grandstand is closed due to insurance regulations.

-Friday, 2/13; Qualifying Night. Pits & Grandstands Open at 4pm, Hot Laps at 6:30pm and Races Start at 7pm. (Note: normally 2-day races start at 8pm on Friday, so make sure you note this change.)

-Saturday, 2/14; Championship Night. Pits & Grandstands Open at 1pm. Hot Laps at 3:30pm and Races Start at 4pm.

MORE EVENT DETAILS:

-For complete event details, including online registration, 2-day advance passes, purse structure, directions, ticket/pit prices and much more; please click www.CowtownSpeedway.com and we look forward to kicking off the 2009 race season with you at the Cowtown Midget Championships, ASCS2 and February Fast 50!

I hope Don Moore stops in here to ask what SMRS has done to lower midget racing costs. Dont want him to stop at just USAC,and lately POWRi too, even if his posts are not on topic of any particular thread.

2/5 A.M. UPDATE:

Yesterday, entries kept rolling in and we have just crossed the 150 car mark for pre-entries to this Valentine's Day weekend event.

One noteable entry yesterday was Sam Hafertepe Jr. He has pre-entered his familiar number 15h...but we're not racing sprints. This time he'll be racing a new car in the open modified division.

There are even more browraising new entry twists and turns flying around, and when they become 'official' we will post them.

And the 10-day forecast just came into play, hopefully the dry trend forecasted will not change. It's going to be cool at night, but just come prepared, and you'll be fine for a great weekend of racing - - - and at an economical price:

Thu (PRACTICE NIGHT, 5-9pm) Feb 12

Partly Cloudy 63° hi, 39° low, 10% precip

Fri (OPENING NIGHT, hot laps 6:30, RACES AT 7PM) Feb 13

Sunny 64° hi, 39° low, 0% precip

Sat (CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT, hot laps at 3:30pm, RACES AT 4PM) Feb 14

Partly Cloudy,63° hi, 32° low, 10% precip

The pits are already filling up fast, as more than 170 drivers have pre-registered for what's turning into a huge Valentine's Day weekend event at Cowtown Speedway.

Here's the latest updates:

-46 midgets have now sent in their race registration
-Multiple drivers are racing multiple divisions, so it should be a wild show.
-NOTE: we are going to have a special procedure in place for those drivers, we will announce it next week; as we will not be slowing down the program.
-You are urged to pre-enter then email CowtownSpeedway@yahoo.com with your tow rig information, so we can try to get you pitted the best possible.
-If you are unable to pre-enter by today, you still will be at the track website through Tuesday. But it will be at the regular entry price.
-You can also pre-enter at the track on practice night Thursday, or you can enter when you arrive at the track on Friday. Just keep in mind that you may not get to park where you'd like.
-Weather update: there has been no change in the forecast at this point. The forecast is for 60's all three days, mostly sunny and dry. Nighttime lows around 40.
-We will publish the pre-entry list again early next week with all of the latest entries.
-If you are under 18 and plan to go in the pits: YOU MUST fill out the MANDATORY minor release form located on the track website.
-FANS: You can still purchase advance 2-day grandstand passes on the track website through Thursday.

THANK YOU to all of the teams that have taken the time to pre-enter. This will allow the announcers to do a better job keeping fans informed; plus it will greatly speed up the pit line on Friday night.
