A year ago DirectTV partnerted with the IRL to be the presenting sponsor, but pulled the plug for 2009 after the IRL switched to DTV's competitor "Comcast owned Versus channel" from ESPN to televise the races.

Perhaps USAC could land them as a presenting sponsor for the top series? AND work out a TV deal too? I would dump CC and put a dish on the house if it happened, wouldn't you?:applaud:

Think about it, compared to what DTV paid the IRL, a USAC sponsorship deal would be like an 80% discount to them. DirectTV already has shown they like open wheel racing, so the deal might be easier to make than most think.:usac:

The general opinion seems to be DirecTV left because the IRL is now broadcast on a network owned by a competing company.

If that's the case, why would DirecTV be interested in sponsoring a sanctioning body with no TV coverage?

That is precisely why USAC would be a "bargain" for DTV to sponsor. It will take some salesmanship from USAC, but far from impossible. imho

USAC will never be seen on TV again until USAC has some viable interest from "modern" race fans.

"Modern" race fans are the type that believe NASCAR is interesting, drink bottled water, Starbucks, and are generally catagorized as Metrosexuals.
