Today marks the 35th anniversary of the loss of Rich Vogler at Salem. A great loss for our sport.

Thanks for the reminder. What an intense racer. Sadly, we never got to see his full potential. Even after all his amazing wins, there were plenty more coming. RIP racer.

Was watching that when it happened. One of those where you just knew the outcome. He had lots more to give & would have been interesting to see how he did in nascar.

One of the best ever to strap in a race car

We saw Rich sweep a twin 50 midget double header at Salem in 1977. For the next 13 years, my dad and I chased him to bullrings, superspeedways and everything in between all across the country. Dad and Rich are gone but those memories remain always.

I remember years ago reading a post where someone had Rich's business card. It simply said "Rich Vogler- race car driver" and had a phone number

A throwback to a simpler time where all a guy needed was a heavy right foot & access to some $. Guys could get to the speedway & nascar just on sheer will & hard work mixed with talent. Of course it cost $ but not the absurd level of expense that the top levels of racing cost nowadays.
