First off, with the massive rain and flooding that happened this weekend to so many, I hope you all survived with minimal damage. The forecast for the upcoming week is optimistic, but with near record rainfall, and the Burg and LPS being able to hold water at times, you wonder if they will dry out in time for this weekend. Hopefully Terre Haute will have time to dry also. When any of you get any updates on how things are going at the tracks, please let us know. I hope you all stayed safe

The Ohio river level cresting at 60ft on Monday, holding for over 24hrs, and staying above 55ft through friday will have more do due with being able to race than any past or future local surface precip at Lawrenceburg. The infield is roughly 42' river level, and the pumps can only do so much.

Levels are nearing (67ft) the 1997 flood, and will hold for a longer time it appears.

With any luck, the powers that be will find some room downstream for some water volume- for both recreation and livelihoods.

If all the pumps are working at Burg, The only places that will flood are the motorcycle track, Horse rink and out front of the gates for about 20ft in the middle of the front lot. gets about a foot. Those pumps keep up if they're working.

We are in Western KY and live near Paducah, KY, and I can tell you that there is “ no room at the inn” down this way for more water. We have broken many all time records for rainfall in the last 5 days. Personally, we have had over 15” of rain since Wednesday noon at our house. There is flooding on the Mississippi from N of its confluence with the Ohio to S. of Hattiesburg MS. Paducah began putting in the flood gates last night and CoE is saying the river could be in moderate to severe flood stage for several weeks.

I should have put the "room downstream" in purple. Indeed it was a very widespread, heavy rain event. Time and lessening precip will be the only cure.

The duration of high levels is what will put the test of volume and durability on the dewatering system inside the Fairgrounds.

Thanks for the input. And of course racing is secondary to the well being of those affected. Prayers to all involved and keep us posted

I am putting all my chips in that Formula 1 in Bahrain will go off without a rain hitch this weekend.

Had a fellow Navy bud that was stationed there for a while. He told me it rained once in the time he was there. The rain came down, hit the ground, and the ground was so hot it was evaporating instantly. The ground never got wet.

Never know what you are going to get around here in April, though.

Chiming in live from the West Coast of Michigan.... Mike
