Props to the Illini Midget Racing Series, for stepping up at short notice (after a schedule change) and they will be running Rockford Speedway (Loves Park, IL) tomorrow (Saturday) night as part of the Red, White & Boom event (racing starts at 7:07). It is GREAT the series accepted one more race, of this last lap season; on one of the coolest weekend's of racing there. The blue-color type club puts on exciting races!

This show also includes one of the most interesting races to "watch" anywhere all year...as you actually can't see much of it though! The aptly named "Midnite Ride of Paul Revere" caps off the night of racing before a great fireworks show. The RoadRunner class (the closest to "entry level" of any RWD v8 engines there, but the cars are pretty tricked out in race parts these days) stages a full points race, without ANY lights on! They just get to have a small one to show the # on top of their car! It is intense!

Days are numbered at the historic high banked 1/4mile (unless a last minute $avior steps forward? Anyone have Ryan Newman's phone #??? He clinched his 1st midget championship there in the mid-90s...); so there aren't too many chances left to see open wheel, or any, race cars at the track. This show should be a good one!
