A couple weeks ago, someone posted on this website, that Yamaha built a Snowmobile engine, 4 stroke, that should be a good candidate for TQ racing. I have searched for this thread, and have been unable to find it, I have also searched Yamaha for a 4-stroke snowmoblie engine, of the size allowed, under current engine spec's. If you have info on this engine, or thread, could you please post or re-post it? Thanks! Bob

I do not know about the tq's but I do know that Chuck Kidwell has a 600 micro sprint that had a snowmobile engine in it. They ran it at the Ft. Wayne rumble event. You might try contacting him, he might be some help.

Chuck's micro actually has a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin engine. It does have a snowmobile-type torque converter drive system.

It was me,I gave my brochure away, all I have is the copys of some of the pages. They have a genesis 120,a 120 hp engine not sure on the cc,but I will try and find out.It is a three cylinder, dry sump, has carbureators, the new ones might have fuel injection. It has a splined shaft where the pulley would go.It might not meet our rules now,but looks like it would make a great stock class of it's own.Maybe a spec engine of tomorrow? They HAVE A 150 HORSE,1000 CC THAT PRODUCES 150 HP AT 4000 RPM and holds that power to around 11000 rpm, that might be a little to much for a tq.Sure would be a challeng to get it hooked up though!I will do some more research.I talked to the guy at greenfeild motorsports about it last winter,he took me out and showed me the 1000 cc snowmobile, fired it up and it sounded really good.

Car65, the info can be found on the Yamaha website, and you can get into their parts manuals, and see the engines, and bikes, etc, to see what, and how much prices are. The YZF600R that I'm using, started production in 1993, and is still being built, and sold today. There is a lot of confusion about which is which, the R6, is a big bore, short stroke engine, that has replaced most of the 600R's that were popular for a long time in mini-sprints. The torque and Hp ratings are in the range we can use, or get to, with the QC rear ends we have. The YZF600R makes 135hp in the bike, at 9500 on up to around 13k, and this is with all stock parts. These engines are available on Ebay, complete, low miles, for well under a $1000.00, and as I did, can be bought in pieces, for a ton less, plus, you take off at least 40 lbs up front, and you can go to any Yamaha shop, and buy parts, if you ever need them. They also made an FZR600, that was a long stroke, small bore 600, that is real strong also, they were built from sometime in the late 80's, clear up till 1997, and are also a good choice, and cheap, and plentyful on the market.
