The UAW American Made Mel Kenyon Midget Series Don and Mel Kenyon Classic race on Friday night at Anderson Speedway will showcase a number of firsts as well as several special matchups on the track.

For the first time in UAW American Made Mel Kenyon Midget Series history the race distance will be 75-laps. Yellow flag laps will not count and in a format unique to the UAW Kenyon Midgets, fans are guaranteed the last three laps of the race will be under a green flag. If a yellow occurs in the last three laps the lap count resets to 73. If another yellow happens, the count is again set to 73 laps and if there is a third yellow, the count is set to 74 and the drivers will be shown the green and white simultaneously.

The Don and Mel Kenyon Classic is the first time the driver matchups will showcase four different series champions in the race. 2016 champion Dameron Taylor will be racing with 2011 and 2012 UAW Kenyon Midget Champions Jessica Bean and Travis Young. The three USSA Champions will be joined by Eastern Midget Champion Chris Lamb who is joining Bean to make the trip from North Carolina for the 75-lap event.

Taylor, Bean, Young and Lamb will be facing the series regulars including Clayton Gaines, Logan Huggler and Trey Osborne who have all visited Victory Lane at Anderson Speedway. Should Taylor or Bean win the Don and Mel Kenyon Classic, the winner will join Kyle O’Gara as the most successful series driver on the high banks of Anderson Speedway.

The UAW American Made Mel Kenyon Midget Series returns to action on Friday night May 26 with the 75-lap Don and Mel Kenyon Classic on the High Banks of Anderson Speedway. The inaugural Don and Mel Kenyon Classic is Anderson Speedway’s tune-up for the 69th running of the Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW GM on Saturday May 27.

How full will the camp ground get at the track? I have not camped there in 10 years.🏁
