Montpelier Motor Speedway Midgets Added To June 1st Program For Midget Doubleheader.
The June 1st Midget Doubleheader at the Montpelier Motor Speedway will provide a double dose of open wheel racing to dirt track fans . The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series will now join the racing program virtue of two previous rain outs joining the MTQRL for a rare Midget doubleheader. With three races in the book, the Montpelier series has found three different winners in victory lane: Darren Hagen, Shane Hollingsworth, and Billy Wease. The series championship points title chase will also heat up this weekend, with any driver currently in the top 10 within striking distance of leaving the points leader. The current points leader is Colton Cottle. The June 1st date has no other dirt Midget races scheduled in the region. The series has averaged 24 Midgets during the 2013 season thus far.
The Midwest TQ Midget series will join its full size brethren for a rare appearance of full size and three quarter midgets on the same racing card. The three quarter midget series is known for its solid car counts along with professional shows. General Admission tickets for fans remain one of the best bargains in open wheel racing at only $12. Doube Midget Duty?
Montpelier Motor Speedway fans have seen drivers pull off winning Modified and Stock Car features in the same night, but the opportunity to accomplish both in a Midget is a rare. 2012 MTQRL Champion, Tate Martz, already has a 2013 Montpelier Midget start and 2012 Montpelier Midget Winner and MTQRL Midget winner, Nick Speidel, has 2 Montpelier Midget starts in 2013. Speidel, Martz, and maybe other will look to pull off the sweep.
2013 Midget Pulls Top Drivers From Across the United States to East Central Indiana.
The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series has pulled competitors from California, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania to East Central Indiana. Chili Bowl Champion, John Heydenreich, has three 2013 Montpelier starts while USAC Midget Champions, Darren Hagen and Bobby East, have both made starts at Montpelier during 2013..
TQ Graduates in Full Midgets
The TQ Midgets have been a good proving grounds for open wheel drivers. 2012 Montpelier Midget winner, Michael Koontz, formally competed in the TQ Midgets while Nick Speidel and Tate Martz currently compete in both TQ's and full Midgets.
