I don't usually worry about how many cars will show up. But, after the problem with Salem I'm just hopping there are enough to have the race.
Anybody heard anything?

We're planning on staying over from Haub. and going to this race- love the place and the history. Hope there's a decent [18-20] car count.

P.S Little promotion by USAC nor track that I can see. Sad, could be a great event.

Why promote it? USAC knows that the pavement sprint cars have been hanging on like a comatose grandmother for some time now. As much as we hate to say it there maybe more munchkins from the merry land of oz than pavement Usac cars. I wouldn't be suprised if they get off it totally next year.

I just got off of the phone with Winchester. They said that USAC is telling them that they should be OK on car count. They also have sprints practicing at the track.
Another good thing, they have lowered the price from $25 to $20.

I have to go to Winchester just to support the usac show. 12 car feature at Toledo was pretty good this year. it wasn't that many years ago pavement usac shows were drawing close to 30 cars. what happened? how do the winged pavement clubs get good car counts and pay less usuallly? usac making a separate series for pavement isn't helping.

I know I will get beat up over this but I think what happened is the cost of USAC pavement racing (tires especially) have gone over what the purse structure will handle. Okay guys & gals, have at it.
