Chris Economaki has reported in tomorrow's issue of NSSN that former USAC sprint car owner Donald Watson, 67 has passed. Don and his late father George "Shorty" Watson campaigned a Leffler sprinter in the 60's and 70's that was driven by Bob Kinser, Butch Wilkerson, Clark Templeman, and Tim Richmond. May he RIP.

Sorry to hear that.

Dwight,

Slightly OT -

I recall Clark Templeman II had a lone USAC sprint victory and I am remembering that it was at Eldora (I think I was there). Do you know if Clark was driving the Ray and Cissy Smith #14 car that day?

No, I do not know that, Gregg, but I will attempt to find out.

Not to steal Dwight's thunder, but yep, Templeman was in the Smith #14 for that win. I was there also. It was on 6/20/76. Jackie Howerton had won the previous night (6/19/76) in the Longhorn #6

Edit: Kind of no class of me not to add my regrets to the Watson passing with my OT response. I had hit the post reply button before I came to my senses.

With sincere regrets and condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Watson.

No problem at all, Marv. The important thing is that Gregg got the answer to his question.:thumb
