It is with great gratitude that today I announce Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway is officially closed and for sale.

The Speedway will not promote any other events for the 2009 season. I would like to thank you for your support over the last few years.

You are correct. It has always amazed me that a really nice facility like this one only ran a few shows a year. I believe since I have been going, they maybe ran 5 or 6 shows a year maximum. I would think it would be difficult to justify this type of investment for so little return. I know that the Southern Illinois-Western Kentucky area has been hit hard by the recession but they really never did run many shows there. Everytime that I was there they had a great crowd and awesome car counts. I remember two years ago in March the weather was cold (like temps in the low 40's) yet they drew a large crowd. The car count that night was like 90 modifieds and 60 late models. I hope someone can buy it and make it profitable.
