Its probably something simple I'm overlooking, but a couple of times Saturday during the show an announcement was made that no provisionals or alternates for the A main, yet 23 cars started?
Not paying attention, were they starting 24 cars and someone didn't make the call? I know T-Mez was in another car so he's not the missing car. Or did they start a 23rd car? |

The format should have started 22 cars:
King of the Hill - 8 Top 3 from 3 heats - 9 Top 5 from the B Main - 5 8+9+5=22 The 23rd starter, Max Adams, finished 7th in the B Main. I haven't seen a mention on how he got into the A Main, where he finished 14th. |

USAC Twitter said Max Adams missed the transfer in the Semi so I assume he must have used a provisional.

But the announcer said there would be no provisionals multiple times.

This is a good question. My only guess and it is purely a guess. Maybe there were no USAC Provisionals but there was a Kokomo Track Provisional. I know Max moved from California to Indiana this Spring to make a full go at this and has been racing at Kokomo all year I believe.
