I'm going to agree with "throb" and name the 500. Although, I've pretty much completely lost interest in the IRL, I still enjoy the enormity of the event and the party before and after. We always have a great time up there. As smart and successful as Ganassi, Penske and the Andretti's have been I can't believe they can't see that bringing these unknown minor league road racers over here is absolutlely killing the fan base. Now, as they lose an event or, seek to add a new one, ovals aren't even mentioned. In 2002 they seemed to have the perfect formula with the cheap Chevies and Infiniti's. They were getting decent crowds at many of the events, the greatest racing I've ever seen (photo finishes!) and the small teams like Curb-Agajanian, Blair, Cheever, Panther, Foyt, Dreyer-R, Treadway etc. we're very competitive and gave Penske fits. Enter Toyota and Honda (with their leases and "favored status" teams) and the sport has been ruined. Tony sold his soul for their money and marketing yet, neither company did a thing to promote the sport marketing-wise.
