On a serious note, I do wonder why the Chili Bowl would allow a racer (any racer) compete without insurance? Not flaming them at all, I just wonder why that isn't something they don't require.
I hope Tim gets better.
One of the reasons would be the impact that it would have on car counts. I bet there are more guys competing w/o insurance than do (just a hunch on my part though). Also, I think it is the responsiblity of the event organizer to carry reasonable insurance on his competitors and customers, thus, the $25 to $40 to get into the the pits at various tracks and events but, beyond that, why would the promotor interfere in the personal choices of the participants and "require" that they go out and purchase health insurance from Anthem or some other HMO?? It doesn't affect the promotor one bit unless he happens to be selling the insurance.
