The first time I ever tried to prepare a race track (Lawrenceburg 1980) myself, I totally screwed it up! Jr Smalley jumped out of his sprinter (Vern Kunkel #4) and onto my road grader and saved the night for me. The track looked beautiful after I ran it in but, halfway through hot laps the turns looked like a set of curved steps!! That Monday Alan Barr came down and showed me how to set the grader and I never had a problem with the track after that. Jr and Alan are both great guys.

At one point in time 5 of the drivers from that list, Sheldon Kinser (Brewer Cadillac#14), Dick Gaines(Dizz Wilson#70), Bob Kinser(Shields Lumber#65), Junior Smalley(Kunkel#4) and Ed Angle(Dave Robinson#7), were regulars at Lawrenceburg.
