Any amount of sprint car racing is better than none at Danville, but to get a following of both drivers, cars and fans, I think it would be best for Joe Spiker to commit to a weekly program. No matter what night Danville would run, there are enough cars for a good show. KISS, MSCS or USAC shows are not really an option there as the cost of those shows are hard to cover due to the area economy and grandstand size. For a guy starting out and trying to get it off the ground, Joe needs to run a weekly deal to build a base so he can survive these times.
Jacksonville did just that last year. And thankfully, were able to survived 6 or 7 rainouts in a row at the start of the season, but finished on a high note with their $6000 to win "unsanctioned" race.
Joe and I have talked and he has some good ideas and seems excited about the 2009 season. However it plays, out I'll be there as a sponsor and driver.
