Lawrenceburg Speedway actuall holds 6118. That would be great if we could charge $30 to get in and fill the stands, but that's no guarantee. No matter how much advertising we do, if there is one single cloud or raindrop in the sky, your crowd can very easily go from 4500 to 900.
The track is responsible for 100% of the purse and on top of that sanction fee. Also, most organizations ask the promotor to pay all or a portion of their insurance prememium, even if you have your own. This can be anywhere between $1500 and $4500. The only way out of this is if your track insurance is through the same company and the same plan as a sanction. That holds true with any event that is not a "regular" event.
The Lucas Oil and WOO Late Models don't even cost half of what the WOO sprints cost.
And yes, very few drivers and owners actually pay to get in. Most of the teams that travel the sanction get into all the tracks for FREE!
I would love to see the WOO Sprints at the burg, so if anyone has any in with a sponsor who is willing to fork up big bucks (appox $30,000) to title the event, Lemmie know!
Thanks!
