Drove over Wed to see night one of High Limit. My reasoning was seeing the High Limit inversion of 6, 7 or 8, plus their fan friendly HL interviews Tony LaPorta provides. Larson was fast qualifier, and he spun a 6. All seemed calm Wed night until the rain shower hit. Took them about 1:20 to redry the track and the track picked up even more speed. As Charles said, those with big stones were running that high line in turns 1 and 2. That bump in turn 1 was causing chaos, and you could keep your momentum up top along the wall or take the slightly slower route below the bump.
Of course, the feud started after the racing was done with the Gravel DQ. That fueled the fire even more between the Larson / Gravel tension. It was clearly HL vs WoO the rest of the weekend. Those other wrecks were bone jarring, especially the infield video of Brad Sweet getting hit wide open. It's a miracle the injuries were not more severe to all drivers. Be interesting to see how all the drivers react to Knoxville.
You can clearly tell why the fans love the wings. The sheer speed and dangerous racing fuels the fans appetite for incredible racing. Whomever on the High Limit marketing team that secured the Thur night live FS1 broadcast needs to be praised. Hard to estimate how many new fans were exposed to sprint car racing. Announcers on FS1 said that over 3,000 camp sites had been rented for the Kings Royal weekend. Amazing. Probably more fans at Eldora Wed night than at the Iowa Indy Car races. Let the HL vs WoO feud continue to sell tickets!
