Actually not an unrelated question. In the interview that Clinton conducted with Cody Cordell, Comp Director for the Chili Bowl, the question as to whether the tires were exposed to gasoline or methanol was raised. So I think being exposed to chemicals that could be on the track is considered. Now, why Simple Green would be on the track is anyone’s guess.

Bottom line, Boyles admitted that he “wet ground” an “old tire” (he specified it had a year and a half old build code, like that made it okay) a month ago in his shop with Simple Green and “wrapped it to keep it clean”.

Why? Why would you go to those lengths to salvage an 18 month “old” tire? You’re Clinton Boyles! You telling me you’re having to dig through the junk tire pile and make up your Chili Bowl tires? And then, because you’re working as a commentator, you get to control the narrative when you get caught and try to convince everyone you’re a good guy and it’s great that rules are being enforced? Nah. I ain’t buying it.
