Highland Speedway was my Saturday night track growing up in Southern Illinois. It's been a little while since I.ve been back there but I am also considering going to August race. It's a 5 hour trip for me but I need to get back and check it out.
It was a nice bullring back then and I have friends who say they still enjoy the racing there. It was a late model track for most of the time though they now run some open wheel races as well. I would think that the WOO-LM would put on a good show.
I don't know exactly the deal today but this facility was plagued by a neighborhood being built AFTER the track was there and then all of a sudden the noise became an issue. Go figure?? They used to have a curfew but I don't know anything about that if it still exists or not.
I would say it should be worth the trip if you enjoy late model racing. I might see you there.
