Spiker’s Bow Out

Joe and Jill Spiker of JS promotions have announced that they will step away from racing promotion effectively immediately. Thus ends a continuous string of over fifteen years in the industry stretching over two states and five different racetracks. “We started at Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, Illinois in 2009 ,” Joe Spiker notes, “but we also finished out the year at Lincoln Park (Indiana) Speedway.” In 2024 the Spiker’s operated Bloomington Speedway, Lincoln Park, and the Terre Haute Action Track. “It is just time,” Joe notes. “I’m worn out and raced out. For most of this time I also ran an excavating business, so Jill and I were working seven days a week.” Jill Spiker noted the move was bittersweet “given the loyal drivers, fans, and employees we had particularly at Lincoln Park.” There is pride in what has been accomplished. “When I did a walk through at Lincoln Park in 2009 there was a lot of work to be done. The racer’s called the track Rutnamville and now it is one of the most successful and active short tracks in the country. The future of Bloomington and Paragon Speedway was really in doubt when we took over, so we helped save those places." In 2019 and 2020 the Spiker’s were named National Non-Wing Promotor of the Year by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. A new promotional group is already in place at Bloomington Speedway. Joe Spiker is confident that the Vigo County Fairboard will have a plan in place for the 2025 season and that Lincoln Park Speedway owner Dave Allison will have ample suiters to take the helm at the popular Putnamville, Indiana oval.
