The increased purses definitely hurt the margins these days. Now that both national series are at around $65-70k purse, that necessitates higher ticket prices which also may cause casual fans to pass on the show.
It hasn’t hurt established events yet, but not surprising that newer events outside of summer months in non sprint car hotbeds struggled.
Under the old purse structure, you’re likely looking at a $10-15k hit, and maybe you try it again. But at $35k, probably not any time soon.
