This was a great and sad race weekend.
The Scott Bloomquist memorial service was very touching and sad. He will undoubtedly go down as absolute goat of dirt late model racing. The Heat races and Prelim nights were pretty good & World 100 itself was a darn good race and competitive between 4 driver and 8 lead changes. For sentimental purposes I was rooting for Dale McDowell to win driving a Team Zero car. As a fan and a diehard Scott Bloomquist fan I'm not ashamed to say I cried yesterday at the service for Scott as may people around me did as well. Scott was an absolute legend & genius behind the wheel of a race car and the 2014 World 100 is the only evidence you need to know how damn good he was in the driver seat. I'm going to miss the #0 car not unloading at a race track. P.S. He was a damn good father to his daughter Ariel as well. as well! The tributes to him and his family were awesome to see each day. To see the 2 Bloomquist cars pacing the front of the World 100 on the pace laps was darn cool to see. The Black and Green car was a 2-seater and Ariel was in the passenger seat of that car & the Black, Blue, & White car was being driven by Tony Stewart. Both cars were side by side during those laps. To see the #18 car do a fast lap around there one more time was as good as it will ever get. Thanks to Tony and the staff there that made the race weekend great.
I have a bunch of pictures from the weekend. Maybe in the next few days I'll share some of the Bloomquist memorial service pictures here.
Nothing but respect for him. The man did it his way!
Scott's favorite band was Shinedown. If you've never heard of them, take a minute and look them up. Their good.
ALSO my first race at Eldora was in the Fall of 1987 and I have never in my life see so many people there as I did yesterday period. That crowd was insane. The Flo Racing streaming just doesn't do it justice.
