$3,000 to Win / $300 to Start Saturday Night at Lawrenceburg Speedway

The 2022 running of the “Dick Gaines Memorial” will once again offer an increased purse with over $11,000 up for grabs on Saturday night August 20th at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind. The winner’s share is a cool $3,000, and every driver that starts the 25-lap Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint feature will take home at least $300.

Dick Gaines Memorial Feature Payout:
1- $3,000, 2- $1,500, 3- $700, 4- $600, 5- $500, 6- $450, 7- $400, 8- $375, 9- $350, 10- $325, 11- $300, 12- $300, 13- $300, 14- $300, 15- $300, 16- $300, 17- $300, 18- $300, 19- $300, 20- $300.

There will also be $100 tow money for all sprint cars that do not start the feature, and a $63 hard charger award for the driver that advances the most positions from the originally posted feature lineup.

There are only three Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint races remaining this season, and drivers will be vying for a good finish Saturday night to either improve or solidify their position in the rankings.

Joss Moffatt and Sterling Cling are currently tied atop the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint point standings with 915 points each followed by Justin Owen (-15), Garrett Abrams (-45), and Michael Fischesser (-95).

Moffatt is a former winner of the Dick Gaines Memorial in 2020, the same year Cling scored his best finish of fifth. Moffatt scored a “clean sweep” that night when he was the overall fastest qualifier, won his heat race, and led all 25-laps of the feature.

Owen has very limited experience in this race with only three starts under his belt and a best finish of 17th in his 2012 rookie season. Abrams has a pair of thirds in 2018 and 2021, while Fischesser’s best finish was his rookie season in 2010 when he placed ninth.

Tyler Kendall opened the 2022 Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint season with a bang on April 16th, collecting his first feature win at "The Burg.". Proving that win was no fluke, he followed it up with a runner-up finish to 2011 track champion Chad Boespflug on April 23rd.

Justin Grant won on June 4th during Indiana Midget Week, and Justin Owen doubled his career Lawrenceburg Speedway wins on June 11th.

At the most recent Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint race on June 18th, defending track champion Nick Bilbee was victorious in the “BOSS/Burg Showdown” giving him fourteen career wins at Lawrenceburg and tying him with Justin Grant for most sprint wins on the 3/8ths mile high banked oval.

As part of their Dog Daze of Summer promo, the track is also hosting a “Pet Food & Toy Drive” in conjunction with their friends at Kroger. For each item you bring to donate you will receive a chance to win a $100 Kroger gift card.

General admission gates are set to open at 5:00 pm Saturday with hot laps at 6:00 pm, and opening ceremonies are scheduled for 7:00 pm.
