Agreed. Before he got the big rides he drove his ass off and found ways to get around people for the most part. When he drove the 40 and followed DD all of those nites around Kokomo he was learning to do it the right way. Now…. Not so much. Last year he told us he isn’t here to make friends when he drove over Swanson in Ocala, and blamed the Usac format about winning heat races for why he cleared out Critter at TSS. It’s not his fault anymore and with the statement Kirk Spridgeon has made that “there is no rule for contact made” he can continue to do it.
This board has been in an uproar about the intense negativity towards Usac. People not understanding where all of it came from. It’s things like this(not just specifically to Grant, there are/were others)and the theatrics about tires that have worn people down. The old I wonder what have happened if he did it to Hewitt line is irrelevant since in todays climate that would lead to lawyers getting involved. Technically by Grants own admission he cleaned out the leader under yellow. They called yellow and he stated that he thought the leader would be further along. I’ll bet there is a rule for hitting cars under yellow. For me it’s too many times, too many excuses for a select few a no action, while the sanction body puts on an authority show towards others.
Hopefully soon Grant returns to his ways when he was a nobody trying to make a name. They were fun times, when you become part of the “clique” it changes everything.
