Bad starts are becoming a bad practice everywhere. I've been attending open wheel races for over 40 yrs. and would say that many drivers have no clue how to even line up and start/restart. It's not a question of the driver's ability to stand on the gas, it is more an issue of learning what it is all about! Many drivers don't even realize that the fans are getting ripped off! It is all about putting on a show...close competition! Look at the Indy 500... what excites any race fan is the 3 abreast perfectly aligned start. When's the last time we really saw that? Now at Indy they are "racing before they ever get to turn 4! So what, let the first lap be all about getting up to speed! Start at the flag stand! Someone stated "that driver's might crash at the green"...ol' Dizz Wilson would fire 'em for crashing his race car on the green flag start!
