This one had one of the wildest finishes I've seen in a long time! Shane Cockrum grabbed the lead early and led for at least the first half of the race. After a few laps, AJ Hopkins secured the runnerup spot and the chase was on. When he caught Shane, he threw a big slider in three, but Shane crossed him over and countered the move, as AJ slid up into turn 4. The next lap he would make his move again and this time the slider would stick. Back through the field, Brady Short was a solid third and Josh Hodges and Matt Moore (in the Kroc #21K) were passing alot of cars. And had a pretty good battle themselves. AJ would stretch his lead out to a comfortable margin. Not checking out, but ahead enough that he wasn't within striking distance. Late in the race they started dealing with alot of lapped traffic. AJ slowed to avoid contact with a lapper that I believe was his teammate and Shane would close the distance significantly. They were pretty close when they took the white flag, but as they came down the backstetch, it looked like AJ had enough margin that he was headed to victory. But, the way Shane dove into turn 3, it was obvious that he had one last haymaker that he was going to throw. The slider ended up with him and AJ getting together at the exit of turn 4. For a second it almost looked like they might both stop. But neither did and they raced back to the line, with Shane crossing first. There was a really good crowd tonight and there's not a one of them that wasn't shocked by this stunning turn of events. It was a pretty good week for Lincoln Park Speedway.

So yes, I did get my sprint car fix.
