When you look at how many cars are usually entered for the 500 these days, you may have.... what.... 3-4 possibly being bumped? Of those, why bump a high $$$ team like Hinchcliffe last year? Let the regulars in and bump the one-offs.
On the other hand, this will not get the entry list higher and higher for there is are greater odds the one-offs will be bumped. So, that side of the knife can also cut.
I'm on the fence. I hate seeing a big name miss out, for they and their teams pay heavy dues annually, but I want to see the sport grow, too.
