Years ago (in the 1960"s) Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway had several BIG money open competition, open wheel events, and I believe at one time they also had at least one USAC sprint race. As stock cars took hold in the South, open wheel cars faded away. I think the Memphis event is going to be watched very closely. If it draws a good field and a good crowd, it will make more promoters sit up and take notice and request a date on the schedule.
